I came to this through the lyric sheet before I really sat with it, and 'balanced on the biggest wave' hit me differently in print than I expected, quieter somehow. Gilmour's voice sells it as comfort but the words are genuinely bleak, and that gap between tone and meaning is where this song actually lives.
